Dear Reader,
I've been very interested to observe the long, strong trend towards shared, immersive experiences. From art to axe throwing, podcasts to performances, from Couples to Cologne (where Tony Robbins works with a live audience of 13,000 people).
I love nothing more than sitting in a room having a beautiful conversation with one person, witnessing the transformation of a unique individual. One incredible client at a time. It is a privilege that moves and energises me deeply, every single day.
But I believe there is huge potential for more; for human growth and learning at an unprecedented scale. Learning together is a brilliant way to learn. Interpersonal feeds intrapersonal. And this must surely be even more true for emotional and social growth. Which we all need.
And yet the therapy world sometimes emphasises the solo journey: meditate, journal, work on yourself. No question, this is valuable, and a necessary antidote to the over-stimulating, externalising, self-eradicating world.
But something is shifting. More and more people are craving spaces where they can reflect together: small, intentional groups where honesty, humour, and humanity are welcome. Of course! What could feel more natural and more beautiful.
We learn faster in the company of others.
When someone else shares a realisation, something clicks in us too. Often more deeply and directly.
When we listen and hear, we are moved, and we find our own words, and meaning.
Learning together is a powerful experience. Self springs from Social.
And the science agrees. Our brains are social systems. Shared reflection synchronises neural rhythms and soothes the nervous system. Calm and confidence are contagious.
And so itβs no surprise that so many of us are seeking connection that feels safe, intelligent, and genuinely uplifting.
Places where we can be ourselves and still be seen.
And so Iβm curious and I'd like your help:
π Do you grow when youβre around others?
π What kinds of shared experiences have worked for you?
π What are the limitations, drawbacks or concerns?
Over the next few weeks and months I'm convening a selection of cherished group spaces. Containers in which to unfold the practices and principles of my work, in the group dimension. Starting small (a group of 4-6 of us are meeting next week to explore the "I RISE" journey). Who knows where we'll end up. Solo to Superbowl? Huddle to Hippodrome. Or Hall for Cornwall!
Please hit reply and let me know your thoughts. Iβd love to hear how this sits.
Adam
